Why steaming with a Personal Steam Plan?

Why Steam with a Personal Steam Plan?

Online, you’ll find many different opinions and pieces of advice about vaginal steaming. Some say you should steam for 30 minutes, others advise shorter or longer sessions. The same applies to herbs—there are blends marketed for fertility, tightening the vagina, infections, or menstruation.

When I first started vaginal steaming myself, I felt overwhelmed and unsure of what was right or wrong. I also missed a deeper foundation—knowledge that went beyond ancient wisdom and tradition alone.

My search led me to the Peristeam Hydrotherapy Institute, founded by Keli Garza. Keli claims to have spent decades researching vaginal steaming and its application for a wide range of concerns. Curious to learn more, I completed her Steam Facilitator training, followed by the full certification as a Peristeam Hydrotherapist.

Today, I specialize in creating personalised steam plans for a wide variety of needs and concerns. Along the way, I also learned about the possible negative effects—or lack of results—when steaming is done without a proper plan.

Why a Steam Plan Matters

The effectiveness of vaginal steaming depends on several key factors:

  • Duration of each session

  • Frequency

  • Herbal selection

  • Cycle days on which you steam (when applicable)

  • Additional guidance around nutrition, health, and menstrual care

Incorrect duration, frequency, or herb choices can worsen symptoms rather than relieve them. Because steaming involves heat and increases circulation, it is a powerful tool—but when used incorrectly, it may cause issues such as vaginal dryness, dehydration, or early bleeding in the menstrual cycle.

Not every woman should steam for 30 minutes, and not all herbs are suitable for every body. Factors such as cycle length and signs of excess heat in the body must always be considered before choosing herbs.

What You Receive with a Steam Plan

When you purchase a steam plan from me, you receive a detailed intake form. This includes questions about:

  • Your menstrual cycle over the past 6 months

  • Allergies

  • Menstrual flow and symptoms

  • Diet and lifestyle

  • Sexual health

  • Infections and medical history

  • Pregnancies, births, and postpartum experiences

  • Vaginal discharge throughout the month

Based on this information, I create a personalized steam plan that outlines how long and how often to steam, which herbs to use, and additional supportive practices to help reduce your symptoms.

Each steam plan includes:

  • Duration

  • Frequency

  • Cycle timing (if relevant)

  • Herbal selection

Every plan is unique—because every woman and every body is unique.

Your steam plan is discussed 1:1 via Zoom or phone, where I explain how to steam safely, how to prepare your setup, and answer all your questions.

Choosing the Right Steam Plan

You can choose between 1-month or 2-month steam plans, as well as specialized plans for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery.

1-month plans are recommended for:

  • Children & first menstruation

  • Healing & general wellbeing

  • Preventive fertility support

  • Active infections

  • Vaginal dryness, itching

  • Insomnia

  • Low libido or sexual concerns

2-month plans are best for:

  • Chronic infections

  • Short cycles (27 days or less)

  • Irregular or spontaneous bleeding

  • Painful or heavy periods

  • Cysts, fibroids, endometriosis, PCOS

  • Missing or very long cycles

Steaming once is never enough. Consistency is essential—sometimes monthly steaming is sufficient, while other situations require more frequent practice.

In-Person Treatments

In addition to online steam plans, you can also book an in-person treatment. You’ll complete the same intake form beforehand, receive your personalized plan, and experience steaming under my guidance—allowing you to build confidence and ask questions in real time.

I am based in Oppdal,Norway. If that’s too far, there are trained steam practitioners throughout the Netherlands and Belgium whom I have personally educated. You can find them on the Yoni steam page on my website.
